Highbury Youth Choir was founded in 1996 by Sarah Wilkinson and Scott Stroman (as Highbury Young Singers) as the youth choir of adult chamber choir Eclectic Voices, to provide opportunities for children and young people to perform with professional musicians in a wide range of styles. Over
the last 20 years, the choirs have performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Union Chapel, St Paul's Covent Garden, taken part in TV broadcasts and recorded CDs. A hugely versatile group, like
their adult counterparts in Eclectic Voices, they perform across London in a huge range of projects led by professional choral directors.
Since 2012, HYC has also formed the Youth Chorus of Highbury Opera Theatre,
appearing in Dove's Tobias and the Angel (2012), Britten's Noye’s Fludde (2013), Scott Stroman's jazz musical version of As You Like It (2014) and
Fables (2015) Kurt Weill's Lost in the Stars (2016) and Stroman's adaptation of Nick Hornby's book Fever Pitch (2017).
